May 19, 2007 - GAME REPORT
California Victory 1 Vancouver Whitecaps 3
Saturday, May 19, 2007 Kezar Stadium, San Francisco, CA (attendance: 1067)
The Whitecaps proved to be too strong for the expansion California Victory, as Vancouver won their third straight on the road to remain in top spot in the USL First Division. Red hot striker Eduardo Sebrango scored two goals within the first eleven minutes to pace Vancouver to the win. Defender Adrian Cann netted the insurance marker in the second half, as the Whitecaps are now undefeated in 15 games going back to last season.
Vancouver's record now sits at 4W-0L-2T for fourteen points, maintaining the Whitecaps three-point advantage atop the standings. Last-place California are winless at 0-2-1 for one point.
The Whitecaps have little chance to rest, as they fly back to Vancouver to face the waiting Rochester Raging Rhinos on Sunday May 20, to conclude a tricky pair of back-to-back games. Sunday's contest is part of a men's/women's doubleheader, as the Whitecaps women open their season against the Seattle Crossfire Sounders in a 4:00 p.m. kick-off at Swangard Stadium. The men's action then follows at 7:00 p.m. in a rematch of last year's championship final.
